Lenten Music Changes

With the arrival of Lent, there are several changes to the music at High Mass each week. The setting of the ordinary switches to the An Anglican Folk Mass by Martin Shaw. This has a long history in Anglo-Catholicism (I sang it as a boy and you know just how long ago that is!) We also change to singing the Mode IV creed, a more penitential setting that the usual Mode V version. The setting of the Asperges also changes from Mode VII to Mode IV., something we did for the first time last year. You will also notice that there is no organ music before or after Mass, except on Rose Sunday. Please enjoy the changes, which will make Easter—when it arrives—seem even more festive.
