I am a Canadian (by extraction half Ukrainian and half Irish), which explains in part my attraction to the Anglican tradition, since I am an anglophile and loyal colonial subject (although I love San Francisco as much as any place on earth).
I have been an oblate of the Camaldolese Benedictines (of New Camaldoli, at Big Sur) since 2003, and was confirmed at Church of the Advent in 2005. I am currently chair of the St. Cecilia Guild, supporting Church of the Advent’s musical programs, and in particular Schola Adventus.
I value deeply the diversity that this small but vibrant congregation reflects. As a lesbian, I think that the presence of gay people in churches is a living reminder of the perpetual challenge to embrace the other, of the obligation of Christians to see Christ in who we are not. At Advent, I experience mutual respect and connection with a wide spectrum of people.
I have for many years worked as a business analyst for the industry leader in software for container shipping terminals. Previously, I was posted overseas (Rotterdam, Netherlands) for two years, and continue to travel globally.
I read voraciously, from historical fiction and mysteries to philosophy and linguistics. Rheumatoid arthritis limits my physical activites somewhat but I love to walk, hike, and bicycle.
